Web Developer

Salary: £54,000 - 94,000 per year

Requirements:

• Must be able to work in the UK without visa sponsorship
• Strong WordPress development experience, preferably across multiple sites or within an agency
• Strong PHP, HTML, CSS and JavaScript skills, with a code-level understanding of WordPress
• Experience with WordPress template hierarchy, custom post types, hooks and ACF
• Practical experience with Avada/Fusion Builder, Divi or Elementor, and sound judgement about when to use a page builder or write code
• A track record of improving website speed and performance
• Experience with GTM and dataLayer tracking, plus enough technical SEO knowledge to work closely with an SEO specialist
• Experience connecting third-party platforms using APIs and webhooks
• Clear communication skills and confidence speaking directly with clients
• An interest in using automation and AI to improve how work is delivered
• Experience with automation platforms would be an advantage
• Organised approach to managing workload within part-time hours, documenting work and keeping colleagues informed
• Conscientious approach, ability to take ownership of work and enjoy working in a small team

Responsibilities:

• Build, maintain and improve WordPress websites across a portfolio of clients
• Build and improve WordPress sites using tools such as Avada/Fusion Builder, Divi, Elementor, ACF and Gravity Forms
• Add and update content produced by the wider team
• Improve site speed, Core Web Vitals, caching, asset loading and accessibility
• Manage hosting, DNS, staging environments, backups, security and updates
• Investigate bugs through error logs and implement reliable fixes
• Implement technical SEO recommendations, including changes to site architecture, structured data, redirects and indexability
• Manage GTM containers, dataLayer events, consent and enquiry tracking
• Build landing pages and enquiry journeys that reflect how each client sells
• Connect websites with marketing platforms through APIs, webhooks and automation tools
• Help build internal tools, automations and AI projects
• Use AI-assisted development tools efficiently while maintaining code quality and human oversight
• Scope development work and provide realistic estimates for proposals
• Respond, within reason, to significant website performance or availability issues outside usual hours on rare occasions
• Work closely with the Agency Director, SEO Specialist and Paid Media Specialist, and communicate with colleagues and clients

We are a marketing agency working with ambitious entrepreneurs, owner-managed businesses and growing SMEs. We act as an extension of our clients teams, often serving as their entire marketing team, and use digital marketing, automation and AI to help businesses grow. We are expanding our in-house team and are hiring a Web Developer to take ownership of the websites that support our clients marketing activity, with opportunities to contribute to our own tools, automations and AI projects. This is a hands-on role in a small, supportive team. It is part-time at 22.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:30am–2:30pm, including a 30-minute lunch break, with a salary of £27,000 per annum (£45,000 full-time equivalent) plus a performance incentive plan. The role is hybrid, with at least one day per week in our Witney, Oxford office; Monday is our core office day. This is not a remote role, and the successful candidate must be able to commute to Witney.
