Systems Engineer

Salary: £45,000 - 55,000 per year

Requirements:

• Degree (2:1) or HND/HNC in IT, programming, or engineering, and/or at least 3 years of equivalent experience
• Professional and flexible approach

• Analytical mindset
• Ability to diagnose complex faults, document findings, communicate clearly, and follow up corrective actions
• Good knowledge of TCP/IP networking concepts, including routing, switching, firewalling, and Layer 7 firewalls
• Knowledge of Linux systems, including CentOS or Ubuntu, Apache, and MySQL
• Desirable: project planning and delivery experience
• Desirable: experience with Asterisk or VoIP platforms
• Desirable: intermediate knowledge of Windows Server and VMware
• Desirable: hardware and/or software systems development and design experience
• Desirable: programming or scripting knowledge, including Bash or Perl
• Desirable: working knowledge of satellite networks and infrastructure, firewalls, and traffic shaping

Responsibilities:

• Act as the in-house product expert on selected systems and applications
• Provide accurate and timely technical information for a variety of engineering investigations
• Support design, requirement capture, and development of our value-added services
• Produce and maintain detailed technical documentation for new solutions and developments
• Work with our Product Management team on effective roll-outs
• Own, investigate, and resolve escalated engineering service issues
• Lead by example by developing and maintaining personal technical expertise in our bespoke products and security best practice
