Software Engineer - AI

Salary: £46,000 - 75,000 per year

Requirements:

• Bachelors, Masters, or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related quantitative field, obtained within the last 1–2 years
• Solid theoretical understanding of core AI/ML concepts, including supervised and unsupervised learning, basic deep learning architectures, and data science fundamentals
• Proficiency in at least one major programming language for AI development, such as Python or C++
• Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, or Keras
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and good software engineering practices
• Some hands-on experience with AI/ML projects through academic coursework, research, internships, or personal projects
• Unrestricted right to work in the UK
• Preferred: CUDA/graphics card programming
• Preferred: Experience with AI/ML tasks such as computer vision, natural language processing, or time-series analysis
• Preferred: Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
• Preferred: Basic understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, or MLOps concepts
• Preferred: Exposure to industrial domains such as manufacturing, automation, or energy systems

Responsibilities:

• Contribute to a team developing, testing, and implementing AI/ML models and algorithms for industrial problems across our Digital Industries portfolio, including predictive maintenance, autonomous systems data preparation, quality control, and digital twins
• Learn and apply state-of-the-art AI techniques and tools to real-world datasets and challenges with guidance from experienced engineers and an AI Development/Research Leader
• Write clean, efficient, well-documented code, primarily in Python or C++, to implement AI algorithms, data pipelines, and software components
• Assist with data collection, cleaning, preprocessing, and feature engineering for model training and evaluation
• Support testing, validation, and performance evaluation of AI models to help ensure their robustness and reliability
• Collaborate with senior engineers, domain experts, and researchers to understand project requirements and integrate AI components into larger software systems and platforms
• Participate in our structured graduate program, take part in ongoing learning through internal training and workshops, and stay informed about AI advancements
• Document your work and communicate progress and findings to your team and mentor
