Job Description

Salary: £40,000 - 70,000 per year

Requirements:
  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Strong experience developing enterprise applications using Java 11+ and related technologies
  • Extensive experience building modern web applications with React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Experience designing, building, and consuming RESTful APIs and distributed services
  • Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, design patterns, and system design principles
  • Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and automated testing frameworks
  • Experience working within Agile software delivery environments
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools, including Terraform
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience building cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure
  • Knowledge of Azure Integration Services, including API Management, Service Bus, and Event Hub
  • Experience with event-driven and microservices architectures
  • Experience implementing identity and authentication solutions using Azure AD, Azure AD B2C, AWS Cognito, or similar platforms
  • Experience working with observability, monitoring, and operational tooling
  • Exposure to AI-assisted software engineering practices and developer productivity platforms
  • Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to technical leadership initiatives
Responsibilities:
  • Design, build, and operate scalable full-stack applications using Java and React
  • Deliver intuitive, accessible, and high-performing user experiences
  • Develop secure, resilient, and observable backend services and APIs
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Architects, Designers, and Engineering leaders to solve complex business challenges
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and influence long-term technical direction
  • Drive engineering excellence through code reviews, testing, automation, and continuous improvement practices
  • Design and maintain cloud-native solutions on Azure
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code and modern DevOps practices to improve deployment velocity and platform reliability
  • Promote AI-assisted software development by leveraging tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar technologies
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to a culture of learning, collaboration, and technical excellence
  • Identify opportunities to simplify systems, reduce technical debt, and improve platform scalability
  • Participate in operational support, incident response, and continuous service improvement initiatives
