IT Operations and Security Lead
Job Description
Salary: £58,000 - 98,000 per year
Requirements:- We require 10+ years of hands-on experience in IT infrastructure combined with security and risk management, ideally within banking or insurance.
- We require strong experience with Microsoft 365, Azure cloud infrastructure, Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, and related security tools.
- We require deep knowledge of security and compliance frameworks, including ISO 27001, NIST, CIS, GDPR, SOC2, and FCA requirements.
- We require expertise in identity and access management, including Azure AD, MFA, Conditional Access, SSO, and Privileged Access Management (PAM).
- We require experience with threat monitoring, detection, response, SIEM platforms, endpoint security, and vulnerability management.
- We require strong networking and infrastructure security experience, including firewalls, VPNs, SD-WAN, DNS security, and cloud security controls.
- We require experience in IT service management and automation, ideally with ITIL-based service delivery.
- We require experience managing third-party vendors, MSPs, and SaaS providers.
- We require strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- We require a Bachelors degree in IT or a similar discipline.
- We require experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure design and administration, Microsoft Entra/AD, server and SQL environments, O365 administration and design, Intune patching and estate management, and networking technologies such as Azure Firewall, Check Point, Cloudflare, Cisco, Meraki, and Versa.
- We oversee our organisations IT operations to ensure stability, continuity, security, and efficiency across our technology platforms.
- We manage and improve our global IT services, working with internal stakeholders and third-party vendors.
- We define and enforce cloud security policies, identity management controls, and access controls to protect our systems, networks, and data.
- We lead the adoption of zero-trust principles and manage IAM in our cloud-first environment.
- We monitor, detect, and respond to threats using cloud-native security and SIEM solutions.
- We ensure compliance with security frameworks and regulatory requirements and carry out security risk assessments, penetration tests, and vulnerability management.
- We oversee endpoint security, cloud network security, and API security across our assets.
- We define, maintain, and test our disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- We drive IT operational excellence, continual service improvement, and transformational delivery projects.
- We support technical capability across the team where needed and augment technical IT support functions across multiple areas.
- We manage supplier performance, service levels, and cost-effectiveness across outsourced and cloud-based services.
- We lead technology projects, system upgrades, platform migrations, and process improvements with minimal business disruption.

We are a financial organisation based in the City of London. This is a hybrid position with three days in the office and some remote working possible. The salary is £85,000 to £95,000 plus benefits. Our environment is global and commercial, with a strong focus on Microsoft technologies, cloud services, security, compliance, and a buy before build approach to IT architecture.
