Head of Software Engineering

Salary: £100,000 - 100,000 per year

Requirements:

• Extensive embedded software development experience using C/C++.
• Experience leading software engineering teams.
• A strong understanding of embedded Linux and RTOS environments.
• Knowledge of software architecture and complex embedded systems.
• Experience with hardware/software integration.
• Exposure to MATLAB/Simulink or other model-based development environments.
• Experience implementing CI/CD, automated testing or DevOps practices.
• A track record of driving engineering or business transformation.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop a high-performing embedded software engineering team.
• Define our software strategy, architecture and technical direction.
• Deliver both new product development and sustaining engineering activities.
• Introduce modern engineering practices including CI/CD, automation and model-based development.
• Improve collaboration between software, hardware and systems engineering.
• Drive platform reuse and scalable software architecture.
• Define engineering KPIs and improve delivery performance.
• Lead technical reviews and engineering governance.
• Support organisational change and continuous improvement initiatives.

This is an on-site leadership role with a salary of £95,000 to £100,000 DOE, with flexibility beyond that for candidates who can demonstrate significant engineering transformation experience.
