Head of IT Systems

Salary: £46,000 - 83,000 per year

Requirements:

• Experienced lead engineer or hands-on architect with experience leading teams and contributing individually
• Customer-oriented with a passion for excellent service and continuous improvement
• Excellent communication skills, including telephone, chat, and face-to-face communication
• Professional manner with a strong work ethic
• Experience working with suppliers to specify solutions and manage delivery
• Flexible and willing to work outside core hours when necessary
• Able to adapt to and handle changing situations
• Strong technical skills in VMware ESXi and vCentre
• PowerShell scripting and automation experience
• Experience with storage technologies and backup tools
• Knowledge of Azure AD, including conditional access, SSO, application registration, and provisioning
• Experience with M365 and Intune
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Windows client environments
• Experience with Windows certificate services
• Strong understanding of Active Directory, Exchange Server, clustering, and file servers
• Knowledge of SMTP
• Experience with HPe hardware
• Understanding of network routing, 802.1x, and firewalling
• Experience with Cisco Call Manager
• Knowledge of monitoring and alerting techniques

Responsibilities:

• Provide line management for the systems engineering team, including performance management, goal setting, and upskilling
• Act as an escalation point for engineering and operations teams
• Work with the business to understand needs, upcoming projects, and how IT supports delivery
• Play an active role in the global platforms leadership team and help set service delivery standards
• Identify design issues in current services before they affect users
• Challenge and support the engineering team with design and implementation as their technical mentor
• Work closely with the information security team to ensure new services do not introduce additional risk
• Address any identified security risks
• Manage the delivery of technical services including Active Directory, VMware, Windows Server, Intune, HPe hardware, Exchange Server, Windows clustering, M365 cloud services, backup services, service automation, monitoring, and line-of-business applications

This is a permanent IT role within our Global Platforms Leadership team, where we manage a wide portfolio of business-critical services and act as a 24x7 escalation point. We offer the opportunity to work across core infrastructure, service delivery, and technical leadership in a collaborative environment, with a salary range of 95,000 to 100,000 per annum.
