GNC Developer

Requirements:

• Strong background in robotics, control systems, or autonomous systems
• Experience with ROS or ROS 2
• Proficiency in simulation tools and algorithm development, such as Python, C++, or MATLAB
• Experience working with sensor integration, such as LiDAR, IMU, or cameras
• Familiarity with field testing and real-world system validation
• Clearance required: BPSS
• Additional vetting is required, and onboarding may take longer than usual

Responsibilities:

• We design and develop advanced GNC algorithms for autonomous rover navigation
• We implement capabilities that enable real-time, on-board decision-making and autonomy
• We ensure robustness and reliability of algorithms for operation in complex terrains
• We develop and maintain numerical simulation models to validate algorithm performance
• We integrate GNC algorithms with rover sensor systems and hardware interfaces
• We support rapid prototyping activities using Robot Operating System 2 (ROS 2)
• We validate algorithm performance within custom simulation environments
• We conduct hands-on testing on full-scale prototype rovers in indoor controlled environments and outdoor field trials
• We analyse test results and iterate on algorithm performance

We are seeking a skilled GNC Developer/Algorithm Engineer to support the development of autonomous navigation capabilities for rover platforms. This role is based in Stevenage with three days on-site, and the rate is negotiable.
