Data Platform Engineer

Salary: £55,000 - 95,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong programming ability in Python or a similar language.
• Strong experience with Snowflake or a similar data warehouse.
• Good understanding of software engineering patterns and architectures.
• Experience building data-intensive systems.
• Cloud experience, with AWS preferred.
• Experience with infrastructure as code, ideally Terraform.
• Understanding of CI/CD best practices.
• Familiarity with modern data architectures such as Lambda or Kappa.
• Self-starter who takes ownership and drives work forward.
• Strong problem solver who focuses on understanding before building.
• Good judgement on build-versus-buy decisions.
• Comfortable working in ambiguity and shaping direction.
• Clear communicator across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Able to manage multiple streams of work without losing momentum.
• Pragmatic approach, balancing speed with scalability and reliability.
• Actively looks to improve ways of working, including leveraging AI tooling.

Responsibilities:

• Work alongside senior team members to tackle complex challenges and take ownership of your own areas of the problem.
• Solve business problems by understanding challenges, breaking them down, and delivering pragmatic, scalable solutions.
• Work closely with product, analytics, and engineering teams with a high degree of autonomy.
• Proactively gather context, align stakeholders, and ensure work lands effectively.
• Help shape how teams interact with data across the business.
• Enable fast, iterative analytics so teams can move from idea to insight quickly.
• Maintain strong foundations around reliability, cost, and security.
• Contribute across a broad set of technologies as the platform evolves.
