Business Architect

Salary: £70,000 - 80,000 per year

Requirements:

• Experience in business architecture, operating model design, strategy, or enterprise transformation roles
• Experience defining capabilities and high-level process architecture
• Experience working across process, data, technology, and people
• Experience acting in a design authority or architectural review capacity
• Experience working with senior leaders on strategic and operational decision-making
• Desirable experience in construction, infrastructure, or asset-intensive sectors
• Formal qualification in business or enterprise architecture such as TOGAF or BIZBOK is desirable
• Strong capability modelling and value stream design skills
• Strong strategic analysis, stakeholder engagement, systems thinking, and governance design skills
• Competence in business case and investment analysis
• Ability to identify opportunities for innovation and automation
• Willingness to work flexibly across our organisation
• Willingness to work onsite in Watford three days per week
• Security clearance required

Responsibilities:

• Define and maintain the current and target state for assigned capability domains
• Ensure capability domains have a documented, coherent, and up-to-date architecture
• Act as the named Design Authority and provide architectural review and sign-off on change proposals
• Assess alignment of change proposals with the target state and surface design conflicts and risks
• Translate strategic priorities into clear capability evolution plans
• Maintain live roadmaps that reflect investment decisions and priorities
• Provide architectural input to business cases and change proposals
• Ensure initiatives are scoped to deliver genuine capability improvement
• Ensure designs are coherent across process, data, and technology stakeholders
• Resolve design overlaps and conflicts in a principled and documented manner
• Facilitate design workshops and architectural sessions with senior stakeholders
• Translate complex concepts into clear, accessible language

We are offering a permanent full-time Business Architect opportunity based in Watford, Leavesden Park, with occasional travel to other business locations. This role is focused on designing and evolving assigned business capabilities, shaping change initiatives, and protecting the long-term integrity and direction of our capability domains. We expect a flexible working approach, with three days a week in Watford, and we are seeking someone who communicates openly, acts with integrity, develops themselves and others, improves and innovates, empowers customers to succeed, and delivers strong performance.
