Backend Software Engineer – AWS CDK & Edge Platforms

Requirements:

• Solid software engineering background with Java, Kotlin, or TypeScript.
• Practical experience deploying and managing workloads on AWS using AWS CDK.
• Baseline knowledge of web networking, including HTTP, TLS, DNS, and load balancing.
• Familiarity with CI/CD automation, unit testing, and operating cloud systems in production.

Responsibilities:

• Develop resilient backend microservices using AWS-native services.
• Build integration points for AI tools via Model Context Protocol (MCP) frameworks.
• Improve system performance, automated failovers, and low-latency client routing.
• Collaborate within our engineering team to maintain operational standards.

We are hiring for a 12-month Backend Software Engineer contract within our Video Platform team in Central London. This is a hybrid role supporting high-scale distributed systems for a major global streaming platform. You will work on automated traffic routing, end-to-end observability, client configuration releases, and AI tool hosting platforms. The pay rate is £400 per day inside IR35.
