Backend Software Engineer

Salary: £37,000 - 77,000 per year

Requirements:

• We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer with experience building high-performance backend systems.
• We expect strong Python development skills, including writing clean, secure and maintainable code.
• We value experience with large-scale data processing and network or packet analysis.
• We are looking for familiarity with version control and DevOps principles.
• We welcome experience with messaging or streaming technologies such as Kafka or Apache Pulsar.
• We welcome experience with tooling such as GitLab.
• We value stakeholder or customer engagement experience.
• This role requires valid DV clearance.

Responsibilities:

• We design, build, test and document robust backend services.
• We write clean, secure and maintainable backend code in Python using modern frameworks.
• We process large volumes of network data on a mission-critical network and packet analysis platform.
• We apply best practices for version control and DevOps principles.
• We translate designs into working software from concept to production.
• We contribute to code reviews and shared technical decisions.
• We apply appropriate patterns using proven and emerging technologies.
• We support feature development and maintenance of critical systems.
• We engage with stakeholders and customers as needed.
