SAP Basis Specialist

Requirements:

• We require dedicated SAP Basis / NetWeaver administration experience in enterprise environments or SAP technical consultancy.
• We require a proven track record managing SAP S/4HANA, SAP Business Suite on HANA (SoH), and legacy ECC 6.0 / Solution Manager environments.
• We require expert knowledge of SAP HANA 2.0 administration using ST04, HANA Cockpit, and HANA Studio.
• We require practical experience with SAP Software Update Manager (SUM) and system refreshes.
• We require experience using ITSM tools such as ServiceNow, SAP Solution Manager/ChaRM, or OneVersion.
• We require comfort working in an Agile / Scrum framework, including participating in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
• We require strong verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues clearly to international, multi-functional teams.
• We require an analytical, methodical approach to troubleshooting complex infrastructure and performance bottlenecks under pressure.
• We require a strong commitment to governance, sustainable operational growth, and compliance standards.
• The role requires BPSS security clearance.

Responsibilities:

• We manage full-lifecycle SAP Basis support operations, including daily administration, system refreshes, kernel upgrade planning, and pre- and post-refresh activities.
• We administer, monitor, and optimize the SAP HANA database landscape.
• We manage incidents and problems end to end and fulfill service requests.
• We resolve complex system runtime errors, analyze dumps and database lock contention, and process SAP OSS notes and standard system modifications.
• We discuss and align technical activities with counterparts.
• We oversee the SAP Transport Management System (TMS / ChaRM), manage transport imports, and analyze technical issues to maintain high operational stability.
• We implement technical system changes and plan Support Packages (SPS), Enhancement Packages (EHP), and system patches in line with Change Advisory Board (CAB) standards.
• We perform in-depth root cause analysis and performance tuning across ABAP, Java, and database layers, using tools including ST04, ST03N, ST22, SMLG, SM51, and SM66.
• We manage system integrations and interface architecture, including RFC destinations, ALE/IDoc interfaces, ICF nodes, and HTTPS configurations.
• We analyze EWA reports and implement recommendations based on our technical analysis.
• We maintain SAP system security baseline configurations, SSL/TLS certificates, network security parameters, and SAP Router configurations.

We are recruiting on behalf of a client for an SAP Basis Specialist on an initial 11-month contract in Filton. The role pays £45 per hour via Umbrella and is based on a Monday-to-Friday, 35-hour working week; the IR35 status is inside. The position covers operational readiness, monitoring, change management, and security across Development, Quality Assurance, and Production environments in a multi-tier SAP landscape.
