Requirements:
  • Experience successfully developing and releasing digital products, with proficiency in agile product management techniques such as roadmapping, prioritisation, writing user stories, defining MVPs, using research and analytics to inform decisions, and planning across different horizons
  • Understanding of the disciplines involved in digital delivery—including engineering, content design, service design, performance analysis, and user research—gained through working in multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience engaging with users, commissioning research, and turning qualitative and quantitative insights into product improvements
  • Experience managing stakeholder relationships to deliver products that meet user needs and business outcomes
  • Ability to reconcile differing opinions using evidence or user research
  • Experience evaluating return on investment and value for money across different approaches
  • Familiarity with setting, monitoring, and reporting measurable performance objectives
  • Experience using data and analytics to identify problems and evaluate the success of new features or experiments
  • Experience devising communication strategies and engagement plans that support adoption at an appropriate pace
Responsibilities:
  • Work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver and iteratively improve the product
  • Develop an expert understanding of users needs and behaviours, and champion them in product delivery
  • Define, explain, and iterate an evidence-based product vision that is compelling to users, teams, and stakeholders
  • Maintain a roadmap and product strategy that set out plans across different horizons and levels of detail
  • Develop and prioritise a product backlog, write effective user stories, and make decisions based on evidence and value for money
  • Identify assumptions and risks behind potential approaches and incorporate them into product planning
  • Collaborate with team members to create prototypes and other low-cost ways to test assumptions and approaches at strategic and usability levels
  • Use test-and-learn approaches where the costs and risks of an incorrect technology choice are low
  • Set measurable product goals and report progress against stated benefits
  • Share insights with leadership at appropriate points to help the programme strategy adapt and maximise success
  • Support the vision, roadmaps, and delivery of other products across the programme and GDS
  • Consider opportunities to use data to create personalised and curated digital experiences
  • Engage users and stakeholders through a range of channels to encourage adoption and use of the product
  • Build services in line with the Service Manual principles
  • Adapt approaches to the lifecycle phase of the work
  • Understand and communicate constraints, and challenge their validity where necessary
  • Create, curate, and continuously improve product documentation
  • Play an active role in the government product management community by sharing learning and celebrating others progress
