Mathematical Software Engineer
Job Description
Salary: £76,000 - 76,000 per year
Requirements:- Strong mathematics or modelling systems skills.
- Proven ability to write robust software applications.
- Comfort working in a dynamic environment and delivering against evolving requirements.
- Solid understanding of software practices, including version control, testing, debugging, and build systems.
- Bachelors degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a similar discipline.
- Preferred: Experience programming in Rust or other compiled languages.
- Preferred: Experience with combinatorial optimization and/or mixed integer programming.
- Preferred: Knowledge of orbital mechanics and manoeuvre planning.
- Preferred: Experience in the space industry.
- Preferred: Experience with cloud and containerization technologies such as AWS, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, and microservices.
- This position requires working in our office at least three days per week.
- Access to US export-controlled software or technology may be required. If needed, we will arrange the necessary licenses; candidates do not need to have them before applying.
- Candidates who receive a conditional offer must complete a background check, which may include criminal history and employment verification.
- Develop new scheduling capabilities, such as orbital maneuver planning and ground-system contact scheduling strategies.
- Iterate on features based on stakeholder feedback and evolving business requirements.
- Build and refine observability dashboards and alerts.
- Support live operations of our constellation scheduling software.
- Improve our teams development environment and processes.

We are Spire Global, a space-to-cloud analytics company that owns and operates a multi-purpose satellite constellation.
