Senior Software Developer / Generative AI

Salary: £43,500 - 71,500 per year

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in a relevant field, preferably Computer Science or Artificial Intelligence; an equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience may be considered.
• 8+ years of software development experience.
• Experience developing applications using Go or an object-oriented language, preferably Python, with a focus on best practices, design patterns, and performance optimization.
• Strong experience with cloud computing platforms, preferably Azure, ideally including AI services such as Azure OpenAI.
• Knowledge of current software trends and emerging technologies, with the ability to evaluate their impact on development practices, apply relevant innovations, and self-learn.
• Experience creating, deploying, and managing containerized applications using tools such as Docker or Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in conducting code reviews and providing clear feedback to improve code quality, maintainability, and adherence to best practices.
• Extensive experience with Git and Git-based repositories such as GitHub, including repository management, branching strategies, pull requests, and collaboration workflows.
• Ability to foster collaboration, encourage knowledge sharing, and mentor junior developers.
• Proven experience designing, executing, and analyzing performance tests to assess scalability, reliability, and responsiveness under varying loads; familiarity with performance testing tools and methodologies.
• Comfort speaking up with suggestions or alternatives to improve platform adherence or efficiency.
• Proof of right to work in the UK is required for consideration.
• Experience using project management tools such as Jira for task tracking, sprint planning, and collaboration.
• Hands-on experience with CI systems such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
• Experience with API management platforms, especially Azure API Management (APIM), including designing, deploying, and maintaining scalable APIs.
• Knowledge of or experience with Generative AI technologies and tools, such as OpenAI or other LLMs, PromptFlow, and LangChain.
• Understanding of the benefits and pitfalls of Generative AI implementation.
• Understanding of the Viya Software Development Life Cycle.
• Demonstrates adaptability, collaboration, active listening, initiative, and a strong quality orientation.

Responsibilities:

• Support internal teams in using our platform to build Generative AI initiatives within a secure and testable framework.
• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software solutions using modern programming techniques and best practices.
• Collaborate with project stakeholders, including managers, developers, designers, and product managers, to ensure implementations meet functional requirements and our R&D standards.
• Participate in project scoping and scheduling, track task progress, and alert stakeholders to blockers or risks to completion.
• Ensure quality through functional, unit, integration, and performance testing; review test plans and communicate when updates are needed to cover code changes.
• Maintain accountability for the full code lifecycle, including support for internal and external consumers.
• Translate product management requirements into features and actionable items.
• Follow applicable security policies and processes in support of our secure software development goals.
