Insurance Architect

Salary: £30,000 - 60,000 per year

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in technology roles, ideally with exposure to Financial Services, Insurance or another regulated industry, covering some combination of data, applications, cloud, integration and security.
• Working knowledge of data architecture concepts, including data modelling, integration, governance, visualisation and migration, and tools such as Databricks, Snowflake or equivalent.
• Appreciation of how technology can solve complex business problems and comfort operating at the intersection of business and technology.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate ideas visually and adjust the level of detail for different audiences.
• Familiarity with at least one major industry platform, such as FNZ, SS&C, Pershing, Guidewire, Sapiens, Duck Creek, Salesforce or Microsoft Dynamics, is highly desirable.
• Genuine desire to improve outcomes for clients and consumers, and willingness to travel within the UK and occasionally internationally.
• Passion and enthusiasm for innovation in the insurance and financial services industries, especially through automation, AI/GenAI and modern data platforms.
• Curiosity about the wider Insurance Architecture pillars and desire to develop depth in one or more areas, including Solution Architecture, Enterprise Architecture & System Design, and Cyber Security.
• Experience using AI/GenAI in architecture and the wider change process to improve delivery quality and efficiency, and understanding of its potential role in client propositions.
• Ability to engage with stakeholders across business, technology and delivery teams, suppliers and clients, explaining the business rationale for architectural and technology choices and their delivery impacts.
• A distinctive emerging point of view to contribute to internal forums and external events.

Responsibilities:

• Invent and provide solutions to real-world problems for our Insurance and Financial Services clients, leveraging technologies including GenAI and agentic AI.
• Bridge communication between business and technology teams to help ensure solutions align with business needs.
• Build client relationships and bring together our wider business to create differentiated offerings and achieve strong client outcomes.
• Deliver transformational change for clients and develop points of view that shape the insurance and financial services industries.
• Contribute across our six functional pillars on client engagements, with a particular focus on Applications, Integration and Data, as well as AI, Cloud and Cyber Security, while developing toward a future pillar specialism.
• Help define and deliver enterprise and solution architecture artefacts, including current-state and target-state designs, roadmaps, transition states, integration patterns and capability maps.
• Help enhance our industry-specific reference architecture frameworks.
• Deliver high-quality engagement outputs, from data integration designs and automation workflows to cloud strategy artefacts and proof-of-concept builds.
• Build credibility with client stakeholders through clear, well-structured analysis and presentations.
• Contribute to thought leadership through blogs, brown-bags and skunkworks projects.
• Help grow and diversify our team, mentor junior colleagues and continuously raise the bar.

We are a small, high-impact team of senior architects and technologists shaping complex digital change for insurers, life offices, wealth managers and platform providers. Our work spans General Insurance, Life, Pensions & Investments, London Markets, Capital Markets and wider Financial Services, including cloud journeys, digital transformation, AI and GenAI, and large-scale platform modernisation. The role is available in Bath, Bristol or London, with hybrid working, up to 100% mobility and travel to client and partner sites as needed. It is a permanent Consultant or Associate Manager position, with a stated salary of £75,000.
