Graduate Software Engineer

Salary: £33,000 - 36,000 per year

Requirements:

• A bachelors or masters degree in computer science or software engineering
• Foundational proficiency or academic experience in Python, C#, and/or Java
• A working knowledge of writing queries and understanding basic database schema design
• Comfort working across both Windows and Linux environments
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills and an eagerness to learn
• Exposure to or a theoretical understanding of CI/CD automated pipelines and deployment workflows
• Experience writing test cases, such as unit tests or integration tests, as part of academic projects or personal work

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain software applications using Python, C#, Java, HTML, and CSS
• Partner with our Software Lead and wider engineering team across the entire development lifecycle
• Contribute directly to technical discussions and sprint planning sessions
• Work with databases supporting backend reporting and application functionality
• Build, configure, and maintain IoT devices and custom applications, ensuring reliable integration with our software suite
• Oversee the preparation and deployment readiness of physical hardware, keeping accurate asset and inventory records
• Write and maintain test cases, including unit, integration, and/or manual testing, as part of everyday good engineering practice
• Gain exposure to our automated CI/CD pipelines and contribute improvements as your confidence grows
• Support our Software Lead in monitoring service uptime and investigating live issues, building experience in root-cause analysis over time
