Golang Engineer

Salary: £67,832 - 67,832 per year

Requirements:

• Commercial experience developing software using Golang / Go.
• Experience developing backend microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Strong experience with Git, Jenkins and CI/CD.
• Experience working with PostgreSQL and/or NoSQL databases.
• Experience with messaging technologies, ideally Kafka.
• Understanding of TDD, BDD and automated testing.
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum development environments.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• A genuine interest in learning new technologies and developing technical skills.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of Java or another backend programming language.
• Experience with gRPC or GraphQL.
• Experience working with cloud technologies.
• Contributions to open-source projects.

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate experience as a Golang Engineer within a commercial environment.
• Design, develop, test and maintain backend applications using Golang.
• Build and enhance scalable, resilient microservices and REST APIs.
• Develop solutions supporting high-volume customer-facing applications.
• Work with messaging technologies such as Kafka / RabbitMQ and asynchronous services.
• Contribute to the migration and modernisation of legacy applications.
• Work collaboratively within an Agile/Scrum development team.
• Develop automated unit, integration and functional tests.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated software delivery.
• Collaborate with Development, QA, SRE and Production Support teams.

We are a global leader in the financial services sector, working on a modern, global customer platform within an established technology team. This is a 5-month contract with extensions highly likely as part of a long-term, multi-year programme. The role is based in Burgess Hill, Sussex, UK, with a working setup of 3 days onsite and 2 days remote per week. It is an excellent opportunity for a mid-level Golang Engineer to work in a collaborative Agile environment, developing scalable microservices and APIs while using modern engineering practices and technologies. This is an inside IR35 contract with a day rate of £260 - £270 per day.
