Enterprise Architect - Network Infrastructure

Salary: £62,000 - 102,000 per year

Requirements:

• We require 10+ years in network engineering and architecture roles, with demonstrable ownership of enterprise-scale routing and switching designs.
• We require expert-level, CCIE-calibre technical depth, with CCIE (Enterprise Infrastructure, Service Provider, or Data Center) required or clearly equivalent expert-level skill demonstrated through technical assessment.
• We require a track record of leading technical delivery of multi-site or global network transformation programmes.
• We require expert-level routing skills, including BGP (iBGP/eBGP, route reflection, confederations, complex routing policy, multi-homing, and traffic engineering).
• We require expert-level knowledge of IGPs such as OSPF, IS-IS, and EIGRP where relevant to legacy environments.
• We require MPLS design experience, including L3VPN/L2VPN, traffic engineering, and integration with WAN/SD-WAN overlays.
• We require IPv6 design and migration experience, including dual-stack and native IPv6.
• We require expert-level switching and data center fabric experience, including VLANs, STP/RSTP/MST tuning, loop prevention at scale, VXLAN/EVPN, VPC/MLAG, and fast-convergence design.
• We require hands-on design and operations experience with at least one SDN fabric platform such as Cisco ACI, Arista CloudVision/EVPN-VXLAN, or Juniper Apstra.
• We require hands-on design experience with at least one major SD-WAN platform such as Cisco Viptela/Meraki, VMware VeloCloud, Silver Peak, Fortinet, or equivalent.
• We require multicast design and troubleshooting experience, including PIM-SM/SSM, IGMP/MLD, and rendezvous point design.
• We require QoS architecture experience across converged voice, video, and data environments.
• We require experience integrating network segmentation and micro-segmentation with firewall and zero trust network architectures.
• We require working knowledge of network access control such as 802.1X, TrustSec, or equivalent.
• We require working proficiency in Python and Ansible for network automation and configuration management.
• We require experience with model-driven programmability such as NETCONF/YANG and RESTCONF.
• We require familiarity with streaming telemetry and gNMI-based monitoring.
• We require deep, hands-on expertise across Cisco and at least one of Juniper or Arista.
• We require working familiarity with security/ADC platforms at the network boundary such as Palo Alto and F5.
• We require proven experience hosting and chairing formal Architecture Review Board (ARB) and Technical Design Authority (TDA) forums.
• We require the ability to define and operate governance gates across the engagement lifecycle, including design authority sign-off, change control, and exception/waiver management.
• We require experience producing and maintaining architecture decision records, design standards, and reference architectures.
• We require the ability to present and defend architecture decisions to senior client governance bodies.
• We require proven ability to author professional-services-grade high-level and low-level design documentation.
• We require experience leading technical design workshops directly with client network engineering teams and architecture review boards.

Responsibilities:

• We own end-to-end technical delivery of network architecture engagements, including design authority, low-level design production, implementation oversight, and cutover/migration leadership.
• We host and chair Architecture Review Board (ARB) and Technical Design Authority (TDA) sessions, owning governance gates, decision records, and design sign-off.
• We architect enterprise-grade routing solutions spanning BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, and EIGRP for campus, data center, and WAN environments.
• We design and validate switching architectures, including VLANs, STP/RSTP/MST, VXLAN/EVPN fabrics, VPC/MLAG, and SDN-based data center fabrics.
• We lead spine-leaf data center fabric design, including underlay/overlay architecture, multi-tenancy, and fabric automation.
• We architect WAN and SD-WAN solutions, including MPLS integration and transport diversity strategies.
• We design QoS policies, multicast, and IPv6 architectures for mission-critical environments.
• We integrate network segmentation and micro-segmentation designs with client security architecture, including zero trust network access initiatives.
• We lead client-facing technical design workshops, present architecture to network and infrastructure leadership, and act as the named technical escalation point for delivery teams.
• We mentor other network engineers and architects, and contribute to our network architecture standards and reference designs.
• We support pre-sales through technical scoping, proof-of-concept design, and effort estimation for network engagements.

This is a remote role with client site work as required and up to 30% travel depending on the engagement portfolio. We are seeking a technical leader with CCIE-calibre depth who can design, defend, and personally troubleshoot demanding campus, data center, and wide-area network architectures. Our engagements increasingly span adjacent domains such as security, AI, cloud networking, and automation, and we value experience across these areas for broader solution ownership and career growth within the practice. This is a full-time, salaried Delivery Engineering role reporting to the Manager, ES&A.
