Full Stack Lead Software Engineer

Salary: £62,000 - 102,000 per year

Requirements:

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience
• Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Advanced in one or more programming language(s)
• Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations
• Experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption of AI-assisted practices within delivery workflows
• Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security
• In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
• Practical cloud native experience
• Experience in system design and architecture decisions, including scalability, resiliency, observability, security, and maintainability
• Design and development experience with React-based micro-frontend applications and shared UI frameworks
• Design and build experience with container-based, scalable backend services using Python (FastAPI) and modern API patterns
• Experience building and integrating services with AWS RDS (PostgreSQL), including schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and development of React-based micro-frontend applications and shared UI frameworks
• Own and drive system design and architecture decisions focused on scalability, resiliency, observability, security, and maintainability
• Design and build container-based, scalable backend services using Python (FastAPI) and modern API patterns
• Develop secure and high-quality production code, and review and debug code written by others
• Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes
• Apply knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation
• Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
• Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability within existing systems and information architecture
