Cryptography Engineer

Salary: £43,000 - 83,000 per year

Requirements:

• We are looking for an experienced Cryptography Engineer with a strong intersection of cryptographic architecture and platform/automation engineering.
• We need deep knowledge of cryptographic primitives and protocols, combined with hands-on engineering skills to build APIs, automate manual processes, and integrate with existing core cryptography and security platforms.
• Strong software, platform, or infrastructure engineering background.
• Experience building and supporting enterprise-scale services.
• Strong automation and scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, Java, Go, or similar.
• API development and systems integration experience.
• Experience with CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and DevOps practices.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Excellent problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Passion for simplifying complex problems through engineering.
• Knowledge of PKI and certificate management is desirable.
• Awareness of cryptographic services and key management is desirable.
• Security engineering or DevSecOps experience is desirable.
• Experience with Kubernetes, cloud-native platforms, or machine identities is desirable.
• Interest in cryptography, crypto-agility, and post-quantum security is desirable.
• Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the specified work location.
• Candidates will be required to go through background checks before commencing the contract.

• Build and automate cryptographic service capabilities.
• Develop APIs, tooling, and self-service solutions.
• Integrate cryptographic services into CI/CD and DevSecOps pipelines.
• Simplify and remove manual operational processes.
• Partner with application, cloud, and infrastructure engineering teams.
• Drive platform reliability, resilience, and service adoption.
• Support crypto-agility and future cryptography initiatives.
• Champion engineering best practices and continuous improvement.
• Some occasional travel may be required.
