Network Development Engineer

Salary: £60,000 - 110,000 per year

Requirements:

• We require a relevant degree in a related technical discipline or equivalent experience in a large-scale network environment.
• We require experience in a network-focused hands-on technical role working with routing protocols/technologies and platforms in large-scale data centre and/or Wide Area Networking (WAN) environments.
• We require experience developing engineering, deployment, or operations mechanisms to support IP networking systems.
• We require experience in a technical on-call capacity, responding to customer impacting events, mitigating issues, and carrying out root cause analysis.
• We require knowledge and experience of interacting with many network devices at a time through networking configuration tools, Infrastructure as Code, or scripting.
• We require that applicants be a UK national and able to obtain and maintain a UK Government Security Clearance.

Responsibilities:

• We lead network projects in network sustaining engineering, network deployment and implementation, network scaling, technology refresh, best practices application, and/or network optimization.
• We influence our operations function by responding to customer impact events and requests, troubleshooting, and improving the automation that runs our network.
• We analyse the network using tools and metrics to ensure it is operating correctly, safely, and securely.
• We investigate technical issues scientifically and thoroughly, and assist in fixing complex problems so they do not come back.
• We plan, deliver, and simplify new systems, processes, and tools to better serve our customers.
• We deliver sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes, optimising and removing bottlenecks.
• We understand new and upcoming networking systems and develop ways of safely implementing them into our environment.
