Senior Cloud Engineer

Salary: £70,000 - 110,000 per year

Requirements:

• 4–5+ years of relevant experience in cloud engineering.
• Strong background in containerization, including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience modernizing legacy architectures.
• Advanced knowledge of backend disciplines.
• Practical experience with AWS services such as ECS, EC2, Aurora, and DynamoDB.
• Experience managing entire projects or processes and coordinating across different job areas to solve complex problems.
• Strong communication skills to guide and coach others.
• Ability to influence stakeholders outside of our immediate department to reach technical agreements.
• Practical knowledge of project management and the ability to manage complex administrative and technical logistics in a fast-moving organization.

Responsibilities:

• Architect and implement high-availability, low-latency cloud infrastructure that ensures performance and portability across our ecosystem.
• Lead the transition of our services to modern, containerized environments, optimizing deployment and scaling workflows.
• Manage and execute high-priority integration projects that align Bitstamps backend with our global infrastructure.
• Identify and implement backend improvements that enhance platform performance and reduce operational toil through intelligent automation.
• Take full responsibility for complex projects from design to deployment, working independently to improve system effectiveness.
• Collaborate with teams across the organization to interpret complex technical requirements and influence processes that enhance our engineering velocity.
• Participate in the on-call rotation, applying deep system knowledge to solve difficult problems and ensure 24/7 reliability.
