Staff Software Engineer - Reference Data - AI/ML

Salary: £69,000 - 109,000 per year

Requirements:

• We require a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• We require extensive software engineering experience.
• We require a proven track record of owning and shipping complex, production-grade systems.
• We require proven experience shipping and maintaining AI-native products or features, or demonstrable passion through significant personal AI projects.
• We require a deep ownership mindset and the ability to see projects through to completion.
• We require a strong bias for action and a passion for shipping rapidly and iterating with feedback.
• We require a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or another quantitative field, or equivalent experience.
• We require the right to work in the United Kingdom from the first day of employment; visa sponsorship is not available.
• Preferred: specific experience with LLMs and agentic systems.
• Preferred: hands-on experience with modern AI/LLM ecosystem technologies such as Databricks, LangChain, or MLflow.
• Preferred: advanced understanding of the probabilistic systems underpinning modern LLMs.
• Preferred: experience building AI products in highly accuracy-sensitive domains such as finance.

Responsibilities:

• We drive the end-to-end execution and delivery of AI-native products from prototype to scalable production services.
• We architect, build, and productionize core components of our AI platform, including LLMs, vector databases, prompt tuning, agentic frameworks, and core agent capabilities such as MCP, cross-platform tool use, web browsing, and computer use.
• We enforce technical discipline and operational excellence across our AI products.
• We rapidly iterate on AI products based on performance metrics and user feedback.
• We lead the evaluation and adoption of new AI technologies and frameworks.
• We partner with product managers and engineering teams to translate strategic goals into technical solutions and abstract AI complexity.
• We collaborate with engineering leads to define and implement platform architecture for growth and scalability.
• We evaluate and drive strategic business and technology decisions for the company and customers.
• We act as a technical thought leader, educating others and sharing best practices.
