Lead Data Scientist

Salary: £57,000 - 97,000 per year

Requirements:

• We need deep expertise in at least one machine learning domain, with strong technical breadth across the data science landscape.
• We need proven technical leadership and mentoring ability, including experience managing teams and other managers.
• We need strong project management expertise, with the ability to break down complex, ill-defined problems into actionable workstreams and defend timelines.
• We need experience managing high-risk, ambiguous tasks and delivering practical outcomes under commercial pressure.
• We need strong client leadership skills and the ability to act as a trusted technical advisor to demanding clients.
• We need cross-functional collaboration skills, working effectively with Engineering, Commercial, and Infrastructure teams.
• We need experience contributing to business-unit level initiatives and influencing organisational success.

Responsibilities:

• We set the technical direction for complex, business-critical projects while balancing speed, innovation, and reliability.
• We design and implement production-grade technical solutions and document architectures and specifications clearly.
• We define project problems, develop roadmaps, and oversee end-to-end delivery across multidisciplinary workstreams.
• We lead technical scoping and feasibility studies for high-value sales opportunities and strategic customer engagements.
• We manage client relationships and communications, aligning technical solutions with long-term commercial goals.
• We drive adoption of best practices, shared resources, and robust technical processes across the Data Science craft.
• We mentor and develop other data scientists and team members, supporting technical excellence across the organisation.
