Lead Data Engineer

Salary: £50,000 - 50,000 per year

Requirements:

• Proven experience in data modelling, metadata management, design, coding, testing, and delivery of data engineering solutions
• Experience supporting large change projects or programmes, including digital transformation and multiple technology architecture domains
• Advanced proficiency in Power BI and/or Microsoft Fabric to create professional-grade executive dashboards
• Experience with ETL tools, scripts, and data storage methods such as data warehousing and data lakes for performance analytics
• Experience with cloud technologies such as SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, and/or multi-cloud infrastructure and network capabilities, including Azure and AWS
• Experience in cyber security best practices and regulations
• Microsoft Certified Data Engineer qualification
• Desirable: experience in a VMO, PMO, or strategy-led data function
• Desirable: background in financial modelling or commercial performance analytics
• Desirable: Microsoft Certified Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate or Power BI Data Analyst Associate
• Desirable: line management experience

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement complex data flows connecting operational systems, financial systems, and other sources to automate benefit tracking
• Build and maintain interactive executive dashboards that visualise OKRs, KPIs, and actual versus forecasted ROI
• Apply systems integration knowledge to create a single source of truth for portfolio prioritisation and resource allocation
• Engineer automated alerts and reporting to flag when an initiatives value case begins to erode based on real-time data
• Partner with the Portfolio Lead, Product Manager, and Financial Analyst to translate complex business case metrics into scalable data models
• Ensure performance data shared with senior leadership is accurate, audited, and compliant
• Define technical standards for value-tracking tools and create automated data objects linking project outputs to strategic objectives
• Integrate data from disparate systems, including finance, project management, and operations, to provide a real-time view of strategic ROI

We are an international educational establishment offering a permanent Data Engineering Lead role to support our Value Management Office. The role can be based anywhere in the UK, with a salary of £38,000 to £46,000 plus an additional £3,300 for London-based candidates where applicable.
