Principal Network Engineer - Cisco - ISP - UK

Salary: £85,000 - 90,000 per year

Requirements:

• Proven expertise in network architecture and network design
• Experience working for an ISP or within an ISP/carrier-grade network environment
• Advanced Cisco networking experience across enterprise and service provider technologies
• CCIE (Service Provider or Enterprise preferred) highly desirable, or equivalent CCIE-level capability
• Strong knowledge of BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, MPLS VPNs, IPv6, Multicast, and firewalls
• Experience producing HLDs, LLDs, migration plans, and technical documentation
• Strong project delivery, technical leadership, and stakeholder management skills

Responsibilities:

• Lead network projects from scope and design through implementation
• Optimise networks and support operational handover
• Provide senior escalation support and drive improvements in network performance, resilience, and security
• Mentor engineers and support maintenance and migration activities
• Participate in an on-call escalation rota and collaborate with technical teams
• Support operational and leadership stakeholders to deliver business-critical network initiatives

We are offering a permanent Principal Network Engineer opportunity in London with a hybrid working model, requiring two days per week at our London HQ. We are looking for an experienced network professional to lead the architecture, design, delivery, and optimisation of large-scale carrier-grade networks, acting as the senior technical authority across network infrastructure projects. This role offers a salary of £80,000pa to £90,000pa plus benefits, and we will consider candidates based across the UK Midlands, London, and the South East UK, provided they can attend our London HQ twice weekly.
