Salary: £80,000 - 80,000 per year

Requirements:

• We are looking for someone energized by ambiguity and able to build a business case from incomplete data.
• We value experience building something from nothing or strong motivation to do so.
• We need an analytical, structured, and rigorous approach, even when information is limited.
• We want obsessive attention to detail and a strong bias toward ownership over delegation.
• We need someone comfortable working in uncertain infrastructure and slow logistics environments.
• We require willingness to spend extended periods on the ground in Africa and openness to relocating.
• We are looking for a genuine interest in frontier markets, energy access, e-mobility, or building meaningful ventures.
• French language skills are a bonus, especially for work in DRC and other francophone markets.
• Prior zero-to-one experience with a venture, product, or business line is a bonus.
• Background in emerging markets, energy, mobility, distribution, or asset finance is a bonus.

Responsibilities:

• Discover and validate a new business opportunity by working directly with customers and agents in-market.
• Define the commercial strategy, unit economics, and business case for a brand-new revenue line.
• Stand up operations and build a local team, scaling both as the business grows.
• Partner with our Sheffield finance and tech teams and our China-based manufacturing partners.
• Report directly to the C-suite with genuine decision-making authority.
• Own the journey from discovery through pilot, launch, and scale.
• Decide what gets built, evaluate whether it works, and stop and restart if needed.
• Take full ownership from first customer conversation to live pilot to funded path to scale.

We are partnering on an ambitious Entrepreneur in Residence opportunity based in Sheffield, with flexibility to work from London or in-market Africa. We operate at scale to expand access to reliable electricity across Sub-Saharan Africa, supported by manufacturing in China, finance and tech teams in Sheffield, and a distribution network already reaching hundreds of thousands of homes across Africa. This is a high-impact role with senior GM standing from day one, broad ownership, and the chance to build a brand-new business line inside an already proven company. The package includes a £70K-£80K base salary, equity, and the opportunity to create lasting impact in frontier markets.
