Network Designer

Salary: £40,000 - 70,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong experience in Cisco network engineering and design
• Deep knowledge of campus networking, including core switching, LAN, enterprise Wi-Fi, routing and switching, segmentation, and security zoning
• Expertise in routing protocols and technologies including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, IS-IS, HSRP, and route redistribution
• Experience with Layer 2 and Layer 3 design, STP, and network protection mechanisms
• Familiarity with SolarWinds, Cisco Nexus Dashboard, Cisco DNA Centre, and Cisco ISE
• Ability to produce implementation-ready low-level designs and reusable reference architectures
• Experience defining standard configurations and build patterns for network environments
• Strong understanding of high availability, resilience, failover, and network monitoring design

Responsibilities:

• Own and maintain our Cisco network blueprints and engineering standards
• Develop reusable reference architectures for campus environments across our global deployments
• Create implementation-ready low-level designs (LLDs)
• Define standards that are independent of site size or location
• Act as the technical design authority for Cisco campus networking
• Design core switching, campus LAN, enterprise Wi-Fi, routing and switching, segmentation, and security zoning
• Define high availability, resilience, failover, and standard build patterns
• Apply expert routing and network engineering practices across our designs
• Use tooling such as SolarWinds, Cisco Nexus Dashboard, Cisco DNA Centre, and Cisco ISE to support monitoring and operational design

We operate as part of the TEKsystems / Allegis Group network, and the role is offered on a contract basis with a daily rate of GBP 400.
