VAVE Engineer

Salary: £45,000 - 85,000 per year

Requirements:

• We require knowledge of the SAVE methodology to run the complete VAVE process.
• We require a bachelors degree in Electrical/Electronics & Communication Engineering, or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, with general technical understanding of electronic and mechanical components.
• We require 10+ years of previous design engineering experience within electronics and electronics-related products, including power module, ECU design, and ADAS design.
• We require experience in ADAS/HPC products to run VAVE analysis.
• We require experience supporting onsite customer activities.
• We require previous experience delivering cost reduction through design improvement.
• We require the ability to lead teams without direct authority.
• We require fluent English.
• We require knowledge of hardware design, alternate component selection, and datasheet comparison.
• We require knowledge of DRBFM, FMEA, and WCA processes.
• We require knowledge of analog circuits, mixed signal, microcontrollers, and microprocessors.
• We require knowledge of PCB prototyping, assembling, and mechanical design.
• We require program management or product management experience.
• We require strong communication skills.
• We require a flexible, open-minded, and self-motivated approach.

Responsibilities:

• We drive design changes or supplier substitutions to reduce overall BOM cost and increase profitability.
• We facilitate cross-functional workshops to develop cost reduction ideas.
• We drive design changes through engineering systems using established engineering processes such as CPR, SRC, TRB, CRB, and TCCB.
• We lead technical discussions and cross-functional project meetings.
• We work with the Test and Validation group to plan and maintain timing to validate cost-reduction ideas.
• We present cost reduction ideas to internal and external stakeholders.
• We support Design to Cost by generating design alternatives to achieve product cost targets.
• We provide reporting for cost decisions, including status updates, progress toward savings target implementation, and forward workshop planning.
• We negotiate cost deltas for engineering changes.
• We lead VAVE projects.

We are recruiting for a VAVE Engineer based in Solihull, UK on a permanent or 12-month fixed-term employment basis. The role supports cost reduction and design improvement activities across engineering, supplier, commodity, purchasing, testing, and validation teams. We are looking for someone with experience in electronics and automotive-related products, and who can contribute to design-to-cost initiatives, cross-functional collaboration, and technical leadership.
