Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Virtualization Architect / Infrastructure Architect
• Strong enterprise VMware experience
• Strong Microsoft Hyper-V experience
• Proven experience delivering VMware-to-Hyper-V migrations
• Strong understanding of Windows Server and Microsoft infrastructure
• Experience across compute, storage and networking environments
• Enterprise SAN / storage experience
• Experience with virtualization migration tooling and methodologies
• Strong architecture and technical design experience
• Experience developing migration strategies and phased migration plans
• Strong technical documentation skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Comfortable working collaboratively with internal infrastructure and engineering teams

Responsibilities:

• Assess the existing VMware estate and infrastructure architecture
• Design the target Microsoft Hyper-V architecture
• Develop the VMware-to-Hyper-V migration strategy and roadmap
• Review existing compute, storage and networking infrastructure
• Assess and recommend appropriate migration tooling and methodologies
• Work with our internal infrastructure team to define migration waves and implementation plans
• Identify technical dependencies, risks and potential migration challenges
• Support high-level design and architecture documentation
• Support Design Review Board approval
• Ensure our internal team is capable of independently managing and operating the Hyper-V environment following the engagement
• Provide ongoing fractional architectural support as required

We are a global organisation engaging an experienced Virtualization Architect to support a major VMware to Microsoft Hyper-V migration programme. This is a fractional, deliverables-based consultancy engagement with a day rate of £700 - £750 per day, outside IR35, and occasional travel to London. You will work closely with our internal infrastructure team to assess our existing VMware estate, define the target Hyper-V architecture, and develop a pragmatic migration strategy for our financial services environment.
