Responsibilities:

• Provide perspective and context for technology choices across our directorate.
• Take ownership and accountability for the development of products in our domain.
• Play an active role in technical leadership across teams and the wider directorate.
• Support other engineers in their delivery and lead key features as appropriate.
• Deliver multiple projects that move the needle for the business.
• Demonstrate technical breadth and depth as an expert in our domain.
• Act as a technical leader and trusted mentor for our teams and more junior engineers.
• Advocate best practices and build maturity in how we develop, deliver, and operate services.
• Design and implement appropriate testing and deployment strategies.
• Anticipate product feature evolution and facilitate design sessions that support future requirements.
• Understand and champion our wider architectural strategy across the systems we work on.
• Exercise technical judgment to manage competing priorities and ambiguous scenarios.
• Use data-driven decision making to balance short-term and long-term goals.
• Identify risks and proactively engage with product and programme managers.
• Share skills and technical knowledge through 1:1 discussions and formal training opportunities.
• Contribute to hiring and interviewing practices and participate in recruitment assessments.
• Represent Tesco Technology externally to attract new talent and interest in our organisation.
