Job Description

Salary: £45,000 - 45,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Solid, demonstrable experience designing, building and publishing APIs in a mainstream language such as C#/.NET, Python or Node.js, through professional work or substantial personal projects.
  • Ideally experience working on projects where we decided the approach ourselves, rather than only building to someone elses specification.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure, with practical experience deploying and managing live resources.
  • Sound SQL skills, including confidence writing joins, aggregations and data updates, together with a careful approach to production data.
  • The ability to work independently: given an objective, we can produce a short written plan, identify what needs approval, and deliver without close supervision.
  • Clear, concise written communication to support that independent way of working.
  • A strong sense of ownership over the systems we build, including their reliability once live.
  • The confidence to question the current approach when we think there is a better one, and to say so.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps for CI/CD pipelines and release management is desirable.
  • Experience of infrastructure as code such as Bicep, ARM templates or Terraform is desirable.
  • Exposure to Microsoft 365 administration or the Power Platform is desirable.
  • Experience within a regulated sector such as financial services, debt recovery or legal services is desirable.
  • An understanding of security fundamentals, including authentication, secrets management and the principle of least privilege, is desirable.
Responsibilities:
  • Design, build and publish APIs supporting the exchange of data between our systems, clients and suppliers, from initial design through to live release.
  • Take ownership of the full lifecycle of each API, including versioning, documentation, testing and ongoing maintenance.
  • Manage and maintain our Azure infrastructure supporting these APIs, including application services, databases, networking and monitoring.
  • Develop and optimise SQL, including queries, stored procedures, data corrections and reporting extracts against production-scale datasets.
  • Plan your own work by translating objectives into a short written approach, raising risks or dependencies early, and proceeding with minimal supervision once the approach is agreed.
  • Build and maintain deployment pipelines for the APIs and services we own.
  • Provide technical enablement to the wider business, including supporting the Operations departments AI and process improvement function with API access and data provision.
  • Monitor, investigate and resolve incidents and issues across the systems we are responsible for.
  • Produce and maintain clear technical documentation for all APIs, infrastructure and solutions delivered.
  • Operate at all times within the security, data protection and compliance standards expected of a regulated debt recovery business.
