Senior Azure Systems Engineer

Salary: £65,000 - 105,000 per year

Requirements:

• We require 5+ years of systems engineering experience, with at least 3+ years architecting and supporting enterprise systems workflows in Microsoft Azure.
• We require deep, production-grade knowledge of core server operating systems, including Windows Server, Red Hat, and Ubuntu, along with advanced troubleshooting methodologies.
• We require a comprehensive understanding of foundational networking concepts, including DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, load balancers, and firewalls.
• We require practical expertise in scripting with PowerShell or Python to automate repetitive system tasks.
• We require proven experience deploying core Azure IaaS components, including Virtual Machines, Managed Disks, Virtual Networks, Key Vault, and Blob Storage.
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert certifications are highly desirable.
• We require the ability to work in highly structured system environments where configurations are fully automated, auditable, and compliant with corporate governance baselines.
• We require experience supporting modernized, reliable server infrastructure operating with 99.99% uptime across cloud and hybrid environments.
• We require proactive infrastructure monitoring that identifies anomalies and performance drops before they impact production workflows.

Responsibilities:

• We build and manage scalable hybrid architectures linking on-premises systems, legacy datacenters, and edge networks directly to Microsoft Azure using technologies such as Azure Arc and ExpressRoute.
• We supervise the deployment, configuration, licensing, and security patching of enterprise virtualized infrastructure, including Windows Server and Enterprise Linux distributions running inside Azure compute layers.
• We manage enterprise identity systems, including Microsoft Entra ID, Entra Domain Services, active directory sync topologies, and role-based access management (RBAC).
• We write robust automation scripts using PowerShell, Azure CLI, and deployment frameworks such as ARM templates or Azure Bicep to eliminate manual administrative tasks.
• We architect, routinely test, and maintain enterprise backup topologies and disaster recovery strategies using Azure Backup and Azure Site Recovery (ASR).
• We monitor OS-level performance, troubleshoot deep system bottlenecks, manage enterprise logging via Log Analytics, and configure alerts through Azure Monitor.
