Security Platform Engineer

Salary: £43,000 - 72,000 per year

Requirements:

• Current SC Clearance is essential, with willingness to progress to DV Clearance.
• Proven experience as a Security Engineer, Platform Engineer, or in a similar role.
• Hands-on Kubernetes administration and security experience.
• Strong experience administering Splunk.
• Experience deploying and managing Nessus vulnerability scanning.
• Experience deploying and managing EDR solutions.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes observability tools such as Fluent Bit.
• Understanding of container security principles and cloud-native security.
• Scripting and automation skills using Python, Bash, or similar.
• Experience configuring SIEM platforms.
• Understanding of security frameworks and threat frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK.
• Desirable: experience with Microsoft Defender.
• Desirable: experience with additional SIEM or observability platforms.
• Desirable: DevSecOps and CI/CD pipeline security experience.
• Desirable: security certifications such as CKA, CKAD, CISSP, or CEH.
• Desirable: exposure to threat modelling and security architecture.

Responsibilities:

• Deploy, configure, and maintain security tooling within Kubernetes environments.
• Administer and optimise Splunk for log aggregation, monitoring, alerting, and threat detection.
• Deploy and manage Nessus for vulnerability scanning, reporting, and remediation.
• Configure and manage Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR) tooling.
• Integrate security solutions into CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native platforms.
• Automate security processes using scripting and Infrastructure as Code.
• Work closely with Platform, DevOps, and Engineering teams to embed security best practices.
• Maintain configuration documentation and infrastructure as code.
• Support the ongoing improvement of platform security, observability, and operational resilience.
