Job Description

Salary: £39,000 - 62,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Experience working in Linux environments
  • Background in research computing, HPC, or a related technical field
  • Programming skills for scripting, automation, troubleshooting, and operational support
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to apply them to support researcher needs
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to researchers and non-specialists
  • Ability to support the organisation of webinars and remote and in-person training activities
  • Knowledge of AI/ML infrastructure and workflows
  • Experience with GPU-enabled systems and scheduling technologies, Kubernetes, and containerised environments
  • Familiarity with monitoring, performance analysis, and service management practices
  • Experience developing operational metrics and support processes
Responsibilities:
  • Provide first-line support to researchers
  • Troubleshoot Linux environments, Kubernetes clusters, AI platforms, GPU-enabled services, and research workloads
  • Assist with platform administration and maintenance
  • Monitor service performance, reliability, and utilisation
  • Help define and implement metrics, procedures, and support processes
  • Work closely with researchers to understand and improve their experience
  • Contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing, and continuous service improvement
