Power BI Developer
Job Description
Salary: £32,000 - 53,000 per year
Requirements:- We require significant previous experience using Microsoft Fabric along with the Microsoft BI Stack, including Power BI, SSAS, SSRS and SSIS.
- We require a degree in a relevant subject.
- A masters degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
- We require demonstrable experience in data preparation, data warehousing and BI projects.
- We require demonstrable experience using Microsoft Fabric.
- We require demonstrable experience with Microsoft BI stack, including Power BI, SSAS, SSRS and SSIS.
- Knowledge of other BI tools such as Tableau or SAP is preferred.
- Demonstrable experience in creating clear and concise requirement documents, user stories and process flows is preferred.
- Knowledge of scripting languages and SQL Server is preferred.
- We require excellent written and spoken English.
- We are responsible for leveraging Microsoft Power BI to generate, operate and maintain business intelligence applications.
- We provide actionable insights to the organisation by creating coherent and useful reports from raw data.
- We collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to BI strategy.
- We ensure effective deployment pipelines and data warehousing solutions.
- We engage with business stakeholders, data analysts and other teams to understand organisational goals, challenges and BI requirements.
- We participate in defining the overall BI strategy, including long-term vision, objectives and KPIs.
- We identify opportunities for BI enhancements, process improvements and data-driven decision-making.
- We design and develop data models ensuring optimal performance, scalability and adherence to best practices.
- We work closely with data engineers to integrate data from various sources into the BI environment.
- We implement security measures and ensure compliance with data privacy regulations.
- We optimise query performance, data refresh schedules and report rendering.
- We create interactive and visually appealing Power BI reports and dashboards.
- We write complex DAX calculations to derive meaningful insights.
- We transform raw data into usable formats, ensuring data quality and consistency.
- We set up and manage deployment pipelines for Power BI reports, ensuring seamless updates and version control.
- We configure automated data refresh schedules to keep reports up to date.
- We collaborate with ETL developers, database administrators and other technical teams to align BI solutions with overall architecture.
- We contribute to the design and maintenance of data warehouses, ensuring efficient storage and retrieval.
- We work with data lakes such as Azure Data Lake Storage to ingest and process large volumes of data.
- We understand ETL processes and their impact on BI solutions.
- We implement data governance practices within the data warehouse and data lake environments.
- We participate in cross-functional teams to provide insights and recommendations for data-related initiatives.
- We participate in training and development opportunities to enhance technical skills and domain knowledge.
- We demonstrate a safe approach in working practices and promote attention to safety.
- We maintain our professional development and complete identified competency requirements in a timely manner.
- We adhere to our integrated management system.
- We comply with quality assurance, health and safety and environmental policies.
