Job Description
Salary: £62,000 - 102,000 per year

- We need experience applying Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles.
- We need a strong understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals and secure engineering practices.

- We need practical understanding of Identity and Access Management (IAM) concepts and technologies.
- We need knowledge of secrets management, privileged access controls, and workload identities.
- We need understanding of PKI, certificate management, and encryption technologies.
- We need knowledge of cloud security architecture and security best practices.
- We need familiarity with Zero Trust principles and identity-centric security models.
- We need experience undertaking threat modelling, security design reviews, or abuse-case analysis.

- We manage cloud networking, connectivity, and platform security controls.
- We implement observability solutions, including logging, monitoring, metrics, and distributed tracing.
- We automate platform provisioning, configuration management, and operational processes.
- We support deployment and operation of identity services and supporting technology platforms.
- We implement secure secrets management and certificate lifecycle automation.
- We configure service mesh technologies and secure service-to-service communications.
- We manage ingress controllers, API gateways, and traffic routing solutions.
- We deliver high availability, resilience, backup, and disaster recovery capabilities.
- We support workload identity and authentication mechanisms.
- We ensure compliance with security, governance, and regulatory requirements.
- We optimise platform performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
- We develop tooling and self-service capabilities that improve engineering productivity.
- We support incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis activities.
- We produce and maintain platform standards, documentation, and operational runbooks.

We are hiring a Platform Engineer for a long-term contract opportunity based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, with a hybrid working pattern of 3 days onsite. The role sits inside IR35 and focuses on cloud-native platform engineering, IAM support, cybersecurity, and operational excellence. We work within a complex, security-conscious environment and are looking for someone who can help us build secure, scalable, and highly automated platform services while collaborating closely with engineering, architecture, and security teams.
