Job Description

Salary: £62,000 - 102,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Proven experience delivering within technical projects
  • Deep, hands-on experience building and running production-grade services, with regular coding experience
  • Strong server-side engineering skills in Kotlin or Java, with Java 21 in use, and experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
  • Proficiency with relational and/or NoSQL databases such as Couchbase, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB
  • Experience with event-driven architecture
  • Experience with microservice architecture
  • Experience with contract-first APIs such as Swagger
  • Experience with message queuing systems such as Apache Kafka
  • Experience with scalability and observability in an SRE/DevOps context
  • Understanding of containerization with Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools and automated deployments
  • Ability to collaborate with product, design, UI engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver robust backend solutions
  • AI experience is highly desirable but not mandatory
Responsibilities:
  • Write code and deliver high-quality backend services
  • Contribute regularly to production code, not only reviewing the work of others
  • Help shape our architecture and technical roadmap
  • Stay up to date with GenAI developments and apply new ideas, tools, and patterns to our products
  • Participate as a team player by providing thoughtful code reviews, unblocking others, and sharing knowledge
  • Communicate clearly, directly, and proactively across a distributed team
  • Work closely with engineers across time zones and partner directly with product and platform leadership
