Job Description

Salary: £35,000 - 60,000 per year

Requirements:
  • We are looking for an experienced Network Design Engineer.
  • We require experience with MPLS/IP networks, switches, and routers.
  • CCNA is required.
  • You must be able to gain SC Clearance.
  • We require a minimum HND/BEng degree level of education, or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline or business sector.
  • We expect you to be working towards the relevant licences or certifications for the discipline or business sector.
  • You must be computer literate and familiar with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Visio.
  • You should be aware of quality standards, processes, and regulatory requirements relevant to the role.
  • You need competent verbal and written communication skills.
  • You should have strong collaborative working skills across teams and stakeholders.
  • You must be capable of managing tasks effectively in an autonomous environment.
  • You should be customer focused and able to deal with internal and external stakeholders.
  • You need competent analytical and reasoning skills.
  • Experience in TENE designs and familiarity with DDaT design processes and tools is desirable.
Responsibilities:
  • We deliver network designs for our Rail Division, including scope of work documentation, schema outline designs, topology diagrams, detailed infrastructure designs, bills of materials, physical and logical design schematics, and node configurations.
  • We create ideas for new products or services and draw up plans for new designs.
  • We take ideas from the initial design stage through to production and installation.
  • We draw up detailed technical plans for ideas and concepts.
  • We use mathematical and scientific skills to create workable, real-world solutions to problems.
  • We select appropriate materials for new products or construction.
  • We calculate accurate cost analysis forecasts for projects.
  • We complete required technical and regulatory documents.
  • We may ensure quality-control tests on new products or systems and oversee construction, manufacture, development, and deployment.
  • We arrange testing for products, systems, software, or infrastructure.
  • We ensure projects are completed on time and within the specified budget.
  • We maintain and develop our personal engineering skills and knowledge.
  • We may lead project steps or have accountability for ongoing activities or objectives.
  • We perform a range of mainly straightforward assignments.
  • We follow prescribed guidelines or policies to analyse and resolve problems.
  • We work on network designs and solutions with a high standard and strong attention to detail.
  • We apply knowledge of the Network Rail MPLS/IP network and related operational telecoms services for signalling, electrification, telephony, and other operational services.
  • We continue to build knowledge of our organisation, processes, and customers.
  • We comply with prevailing QEHS requirements associated with the role.
  • We comply with our values and behaviour requirements associated with the role.
