Embedded C Software Engineer

Requirements:- Ability to debug complex problems and produce required documentation to achieve the required safety level.
- Experience authoring specifications across the full lifecycle, including planning, design, and test documents.
- Requirements analysis experience.
- Knowledge of source configuration control processes such as PVCS, RTC, or Git.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Experience working with formal requirements capture tools.
- Significant previous experience developing bare-metal embedded software using C/C++.
- Previous experience developing and verifying embedded software written in C at a high safety integrity level such as SIL4, DO178C Level B, or equivalent.
- Experience creating specifications and compliance records in DOORS.
- Working knowledge of C/C++ for testing special builds and focused code reviews.
- Unit testing experience using LDRA, Rapita, CPPUnit, or equivalent tools.
- Understanding of code coverage and techniques used to cover or justify shortfalls.
- Experience working in a lab environment with live equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, and logic analysers while conducting system tests.
- Significant experience developing software to DO178C Level B.
- Knowledge of defence standards and micro-controller technologies.
- Experience testing on development cards with a test environment or bare-metal with special builds.
- Experience using test systems.
- Rapita tool experience.
- Knowledge and use of ALM.
- Experience creating and using virtual machines such as VMware.
- Deliver on-board software for the next generation of missile systems.
- Architect, design, implement, and test missile subsystem software.
- Develop software through the full lifecycle for safety-related real-time systems application software.
- Work as a hands-on engineer within our development facility in Stevenage.
- Support the development of software for missile systems with a focus on quality, safety, and verification.

We are a world leader in missile and missile systems, and we are looking for a highly capable and adaptable Embedded C Software Engineer to join our Development Facility in Stevenage, Hertfordshire on an initial 6-month contract. This is an onsite role, with a 4-day working week available from Monday to Thursday. The role is 37 hours per week, with overtime paid at time and a quarter for hours worked over 37 per week. The contract is initially for 6 months with the potential to continue long term, and it is inside IR35 (umbrella). We offer the opportunity to work on technically challenging, safety-related real-time software for next-generation missile systems in a hands-on environment.
