Developer Experience (DevEx) Engineer

Salary: £65,000 - 105,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong CI/CD experience with a modern platform; GitLab CI is preferred, with GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar experience transferable.
• Production experience with Kubernetes and Helm, plus Docker containerization.
• Infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform, ideally on Azure, including AKS, ACR, Entra Workload Identity, or Service Bus.
• Comfort working in a TypeScript/Node monorepo and improving build and test setups.
• A developer-experience mindset, including measuring toil, empathizing with engineers, and treating internal tooling as a product.
• A security-conscious approach, including least privilege, secrets hygiene, and supply-chain awareness.
• Experience with observability tools such as Grafana and Prometheus.
• Nice to have: experience creating agentic development workflows or writing and maintaining AI skills.
• Nice to have: experience with npm workspaces or shared-package build systems.
• Nice to have: experience supporting SaaS platforms with strict data-privacy requirements for enterprise or multinational customers.

Responsibilities:

• Own and evolve the GitLab CI/CD pipeline across Atlas development, staging, and production environments.
• Reduce build times, address flaky jobs, and maintain a short, reliable path from merge to production.
• Improve local setup across the monorepo, including npm workspaces, Docker Compose stacks, kind clusters, and Atlas IAM/Org fakes.
• Reduce workflow friction so engineers can work without unnecessary waiting or guesswork.
• Extend Terraform-managed infrastructure for Azure, networking, and secrets through reviewed merge requests and CI, without hand-running Terraform or Azure CLI commands.
• Own the Helm chart and environment-specific values.
• Integrate and streamline automated security scanning tools in the pipeline.
• Build scripts, generators, templates, and documentation that turn tribal knowledge into reliable, self-service defaults.
