Job Description

Salary: £70,000 - 110,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Familiarity with Agile practices and tools, and ability to work in a fast-paced CI/CD environment.
  • Experience devising TDD/BDD or Acceptance Test Driven Development strategies using a range of tools and frameworks, with test coverage and execution aligned to project, programme or portfolio test strategies and business risk objectives.
  • Strong Java coding experience and knowledge of automated test frameworks such as Serenity and RestAssured.
  • Strong experience using API testing tools, ideally Postman.
  • Experience integrating testing into Secure SDLC and CI/CD tooling in a DevSecOps environment, using tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, GitLab SaaS, Artifactory or Nexus.
  • Experience testing citizen-facing services.
  • Experience testing highly scalable, distributed, cloud-native (PaaS/FaaS) and microservice-oriented applications, including technologies such as containerisation, orchestration, service mesh, messaging, proxies, APIs, and persistent and ephemeral storage.
  • Experience using formal test management tools such as Jira/Confluence or ALM.
  • Good awareness of Application Lifecycle Management and IT Service Management, using tools such as Splunk, Grafana and ServiceNow.
  • This role requires candidates to have or be willing to undergo Security Clearance and complete Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks as part of onboarding.
  • Desirable: Experience with JavaScript automation frameworks such as WebdriverIO or Playwright.
  • Desirable: Experience running stress or load testing using K6 and Grafana or similar open-source tools.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of Microsoft Azure Portal.
  • Desirable: ISEB Certification in Software Testing.
  • Desirable: Experience with data migration projects.
  • Desirable: Experience working in the Public Sector.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform functional and non-functional testing, including performance, accessibility, security, operational and user acceptance testing, within an Agile team.
  • Develop and maintain test automation solutions and scripts, promoting best practices within the development team.
  • Develop and maintain performance, load and stress testing solutions using standard or open-source tools.
  • Resolve problems and blockers and help maintain progress with testing.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with geographically distributed, cross-functional teams.
  • Manage defects, ensuring they are triaged and tracked through to resolution.
  • Promote effective testing practices to delivery stakeholders and encourage adoption of best practices.
  • Work closely with developers, DevOps engineers and business stakeholders to understand softwares impact on end users and provide accurate updates on testing progress and outcomes.
  • Proactively identify ways to improve the efficiency of automated tests.
