IT Database Administrator

Salary: £24,000 - 56,000 per year

Requirements:

• Friendly, hard-working team player who is positive, self-motivated, approachable, and detail-oriented
• Proficiency in managing and optimizing MS SQL databases
• Experience with MS SQL Server Management and monitoring tools such as RedGate, Spotlight, or SQL Sentry
• Proven ability to maintain database availability, performance, and security
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot database issues efficiently
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is preferred
• PowerShell scripting knowledge is advantageous
• Ideally, 5–10 years of relevant database administration experience
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Clear communication skills for liaising with development and other IT teams

Responsibilities:

• Manage and optimize MS SQL database systems supporting critical business applications
• Maintain database systems in line with data protection regulations and security protocols
• Design, implement, and maintain secure, robust MS SQL database infrastructure
• Optimize database performance and ensure data accuracy and integrity through validation and proactive issue resolution
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on backup, disaster recovery, and data retention strategies
• Assist with capacity planning to accommodate growing data needs
• Monitor and improve database performance, reliability, and security, resolving issues promptly
• Support and troubleshoot database-related issues to minimize operational disruption
