Senior Applied Data Scientist

Salary: £61,000 - 101,000 per year

Requirements:

• Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL; PySpark experience is highly advantageous.
• Experience with version control tools such as Git.
• Solid understanding of analytical technologies, tools, and techniques.
• Excellent logical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
• Proven experience in statistical modelling and applying data science solutions to real client problems.
• Passion for connecting technical work to customer outcomes and delivering clear, measurable impact.
• Comfortable building new workstreams from the ground up, including defining direction, structure, and stakeholder alignment.
• Retail analytics experience, especially in Category Management, is advantageous.
• Enjoy balancing technical depth with commercial impact, exploring new analytical approaches, taking ownership of complex problems, and helping others develop.

Responsibilities:

• Implement, support, and develop complex models and applications.
• Design and deliver models, algorithms, and insights that address challenging retail questions, including personalisation, basket analysis, pricing, promotions, and customer loyalty.
• Work closely with Tesco, client leadership teams, and clients to solve problems in the category management space.
• Build reusable, scalable solutions that deliver measurable value.
• Turn complex problems into meaningful, actionable insights using machine learning techniques and analytical approaches.
• Drive change and shape innovative solutions for how organisations use data.
