Network Operation Support L2/L3

Salary: £30,000 - 50,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong experience in routing and switching design, implementation, and troubleshooting for complex enterprise networks.
• Hands-on knowledge of BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, static routing, route redistribution, ACLs, route maps, policy-based routing, and QoS.
• Experience supporting large-scale datacenter environments with Cisco Nexus 5K/7K/9K, Cisco ACI, DCNM/NDFC, VXLAN EVPN, and spine-leaf architecture.
• Experience with datacenter technologies including VLANs, VPC, STP, RSTP, MST, port channels, multicast, and Layer 2/Layer 3 troubleshooting.
• Experience designing, supporting, and troubleshooting Site-to-Site IPSEC VPNs, including IKE, IPSEC phases, tunnel failures, encryption domain mismatches, and routing over VPN tunnels.
• Experience with GRE over IPSEC, DMVPN, extranet connectivity, and B2B VPN integrations.
• Experience coordinating with firewall teams for VPN implementation and troubleshooting.
• Experience in incident and problem management, including L3 escalation handling, RCA leadership, and major incident support.
• Experience driving change and project delivery, including CAB reviews, risk assessments, implementation plans, rollback strategies, and validation procedures.
• Experience creating SOPs, KT documents, architecture diagrams, and network governance documentation.
• Familiarity with automation and scripting tools such as Python, Ansible, and Terraform.
• Required technical skills in BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, VRF, and policy-based routing.
• Required technical skills in Cisco Nexus, Cisco ACI, VXLAN EVPN, spine-leaf architecture, VPC, and STP/RSTP/MST.
• Required technical skills in IPSEC VPN, IKEv1/IKEv2, GRE tunnels, DMVPN, SSL VPN, and route-based and policy-based VPNs.
• Required technical skills in Wireshark, Cisco ThousandEyes, NetFlow, SNMP, and syslog analysis.
• Required technical skills in AWS Direct Connect, Azure ExpressRoute, and hybrid cloud networking.
• Preferred certifications include CCNP Enterprise, CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure, CCNP Security, CCIE Security, Cisco ACI Specialist, AWS Advanced Networking Specialty, and Azure Network Engineer Associate.
• Strong customer and stakeholder management skills.

• Experience leading major incidents.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Experience mentoring and coaching L1/L2 engineers.

Responsibilities:

• We design, implement, and troubleshoot complex enterprise networks.
• We manage and support routing protocols and optimize routing convergence and performance.
• We configure and troubleshoot ACLs, route maps, policy-based routing, and QoS.
• We support large-scale datacenter environments and perform datacenter migrations, refreshes, and transformation activities.
• We manage VLANs, VPC, STP, RSTP, MST, port channels, and multicast technologies.
• We provide expertise in Layer 2 and Layer 3 datacenter troubleshooting.
• We design and support Site-to-Site IPSEC VPN solutions and troubleshoot VPN connectivity issues.
• We coordinate with firewall teams for VPN implementation and troubleshooting.
• We act as the L3 escalation point for critical incidents and major outages.
• We lead RCA investigations and corrective actions.
• We provide technical leadership during Severity-1 incidents.
• We reduce recurring incidents through automation and process improvements.
• We evaluate and implement complex infrastructure changes.
• We participate in CAB reviews and risk assessments.
• We drive network modernization and cloud connectivity projects.
• We develop implementation plans, rollback strategies, and validation procedures.
• We create SOPs, KT documents, and architecture diagrams.
• We leverage automation tools and scripting where applicable.
• We maintain network standards and governance documentation.
• We work toward network availability, SLA compliance, reduced incident recurrence, successful project delivery, timely RCA completion, and improved security and operational efficiency.
