Senior Linux Infrastructure Engineer

Salary: £60,000 - 65,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong Linux administration, ideally Red Hat/RHEL
• Linux server builds, patching, upgrades and troubleshooting
• Experience across enterprise storage and/or backup
• Storage protocols such as SMB/CIFS
• Backup and recovery technologies
• Virtual and physical server infrastructure
• Infrastructure monitoring and troubleshooting
• Experience working within a large or complex IT environment
• Full right to work in the UK without any restrictions

Responsibilities:

• Build, patch, upgrade and support Linux infrastructure, particularly Red Hat environments
• Support and administer enterprise storage and NAS platforms
• Work with storage technologies and protocols
• Help configure and introduce new NAS infrastructure
• Support a major migration from Networker to Commvault
• Manage backup, recovery, retention and monitoring processes
• Troubleshoot server, storage and backup issues
• Manage storage permissions, shared spaces and day-to-day infrastructure requests
• Get involved in occasional data centre work when infrastructure changes require it

We are an established infrastructure team working across the platforms that underpin critical systems and services across the organisation. This is a hands-on, traditional infrastructure role with Linux at its core, based in London with 2 days per week onsite and a salary of £60k-£65k. We work across server infrastructure, enterprise storage and backup, with new NAS infrastructure being introduced and a major project to migrate the existing backup environment to Commvault. There is exposure to Azure, AWS and Google Cloud across the wider environment, and training can be provided where needed.
