Requirements:

• We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with strong software craftsmanship and the ability to act as a role model across the department.
• We require experience working with architecture and engineering principles to help design software products that support citizen services.
• We expect a focus on operational stability, robustness, resilience, availability, and quality.
• Experience with Spring Boot Framework, AWS, Kafka, and Mongo DB is required.
• Applicants must be eligible for SC and able to meet BPSS Basic requirements.
• This role requires 60% office attendance in Manchester, Leeds, or Birmingham.
• The contract length is 12 months and the role is inside IR35.

Responsibilities:

• We ensure best practices are followed across the department and guide teams in delivering quality software products.
• We assist in the design of software products that support citizen services in collaboration with Architecture and Engineering principles.
• We are accountable for the code our teams produce, with a focus on operational stability, robustness, resilience, availability, and quality.
• We design and lead strategies for building reusable libraries and services.
• We own the development of medium- to long-term strategies for product lines and the Software Engineering Community.
• We identify and support the resolution of infrastructure faults.
• We provide 3rd line support on products developed, including out-of-hours support when required.
• We lead multiple Software Engineering teams by providing technical leadership, coaching, mentoring, and development support.
• We contribute to and set strategic direction for the product team and the wider Software Engineering community.
• We lead collaboration and the sharing of knowledge and good practice across the wider software engineering community.
• We lead and support community discussions about best practice within Software Engineering.

We are recruiting for a Senior Digital Java Developer (GC160) based in Manchester, Leeds, or Birmingham. This is a 12-month day-rate contract inside IR35 with 60% office attendance required.
