Salary: £65,000 - 70,000 per year

Requirements:

• Strong experience with Java or Kotlin on JVM 11+
• Strong experience with Spring Boot
• Experience in enterprise backend development
• Experience with REST APIs and microservices
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with Git and modern development practices
• Comfortable operating at Principal level, making technical decisions, solving complex problems, and helping other engineers develop

Responsibilities:

• Stay hands-on with backend development, with around 90% of the role focused on backend work
• Work on a large platform with high-throughput APIs, Azure Cloud, and an event-driven architecture
• Help shape technical direction, engineering standards, and architecture
• Mentor other engineers
• Evaluate new technologies
• Work closely with customers and stakeholders to turn requirements into robust technical solutions

We are a growing business working on a large, high-throughput platform in the telecommunications and online payments space. This is a remote-first Principal Java or Kotlin Developer role based around our Newbury office, with an expectation of around 2-3 visits per year, though more time onsite is welcome. You would join a 16-person R&D development team made up largely of senior engineers.
